We all know I love plants and their abilities to heal the body and mind, but over the last 12 month I have slipped backward, back to using mainstream beauty which as we know are full of nasties, taking painkillers for headache instead of using my herbal ways and eating poorly not paying too much attention to nutrients and my health, mind and body have paid the heavy price (and sadly it wasn’t that great to start with) So I decided it was time to put things right again
You know I already use aromatherapy as often as I can in my life and it works amazingly for me, I have started to eat for nutrition again and include as much plant food as I can in my diet and started to using mostly natural/plant-based beauty products again, I still have that Ted Baker shower gel issue but I digress. Even with all this something seemed to still be missing.
As of late my emotions are all over the place I suffer from general anxiety, social anxiety and panic attacks (Lucky me) and I have lost what little control over them I had which I guess is understandable considering the last 12-18 month have been hell but I digress. I knew I needed to find a way to regain some control at least as living a stressed and anxious state is exhausting and emotional crippling. I wanted to deal with this issue as naturally as possible. I was offered the usual anti depressant but said no as I try to take as little medication as possible and when I popped into Holland and Barrett I came across the “Rescue Remedy” collection and on reading their description I knew I had to try it.
“RESCUE Remedy® is perfect for those everyday stressful moments as well as life-changing events. Sometimes it’s the little things like sitting in traffic when you know you’re late, or people interrupt you when you’re trying to meet a deadline, or the kids screaming when all you really need to do is get some milk from the supermarket – reach for RESCUE Remedy® to help you get on with what you need to.”
I finally decided on two of their products to try which were Bach Rescue Remedy Blackcurrant Pastilles which I can keep in my bag for when I am out and not coping to well as well as at home and Rescue Plus 15 Effervescent Tablets which I can take each morning which will also give me an energy boost and I need plenty off that these days.
*RESCUE Remedy is made up of Star of Bethany – Rock Rose – Cherry Plum – Clematis – Impatiens
Nelsons Rescue Plus 15 Effervescent Tablets – £10.85
I have only been taking these tablets for a week now but I can honestly feel a difference. For one I don’t feel as tired and drained as I have been lately but I’m also feeling a little calmer and less skitty and anxious at home and when out. These Fizzing tablets contain vitamin B12, Pantothenic Acid (B5), and magnesium for energy release to reduce tiredness plus Zinc to support normal cognitive function. You only have to take one a day and simply dissolve it in around 100 – 200 ml of water, and surprisingly for this kind of item it has a nice mixed berry flavour which makes it easier to drink. This product is so easy to slip into my daily routine, I sort mine while making my cup of tea.
Now comes the price which I guess you have already thinking about. I was lucky to have gotten these in a sale that was on so only really paid half price but there was a part of me when I was stood in the queue thinking isn’t £10.85 a little bit steep for some fizzy tablets ? When I finally got to stop and think about it a little more it only works out just over £5 a week and I buy magazines that are the same price if not more and as this is for my health I decided that I didn’t think the price was that bad especially as it is working for me after all.
I think if you do want to try them but the price is a tad off-putting, try and catch them in the Holland and Barretts buy one get one half price sale or their penny sale.
Ingredients : Pantothenic acid (Vitamin B5) 3mg, Vitamin B12 1.25μg, Magnesium 60mg, Zinc 5mg
Nelsons Bach Rescue Remedy Blackcurrant Pastilles 50g – £5.99
I brought these to keep in my bag for when I’m out and start to get anxious and worked up. These had the best test ever as I brought them in Birmingham (I hate Birmingham with a passion there is to way to many people and too much noise) so whilst having to be there to catch a train I was chewing my way through these. I wont lie and say they had miraculous effects on me but they did help and take the edge off so I could think clearly enough to go through my breathing exercises and I’m happy with that result as I didn’t end up having a panic attack.
These little pastilles taste quite nice although they are quite hard and chewing (think American hard gum sweets) and I had to remind myself they weren’t sweets or I would have eaten them all, but the fact they do look just like sweets takes away the fact that you are taken a ‘remedy’ to cope and if you to have social anxiety you will understand the worry of being judged for being ill, taking medication or for being weak. I don’t think the price for these is bad, I only had about 3 or 4 pastilles that day so the tin will last a while and they do go into the sales as well.
Ingredients: Bulking agents (sorbitol, maltitol, isomalt), gelling agent (gum arabic), natural flavour (blackcurrant), Citric acid, natural colours (extract of red cabbage, elder, black carrot) sweetner (xylitol) vegetable oil, glazing agent (vegetable oil, beeswax) flower essences (Helianthemum nummularium, Clematis vitalba, Impatiens glandulifera, Prunus cerasifera, ornithogalum umbellatum (RESCUE)
All in all I am very happy with the results I have gotten from these two products I’ve tried so far, which has sparked my interest into learning more about the Bach Flower Remedy System and I feel it is going to find itself a place in my life to help balance my emotions and help with my mental health and wellbeing.
Have you tried any Bach Flower Remedies ? or are you thinking about giving them a try ? Drop me a line or two and let me know what you think.
Lots of Love Berry xx
P.S Did you know you can get Rescue Remedy for children and pets also.
